So I have an idea that I need everyone's help with . . . even our hitherto non-blogging siblings (not to name names, but BRANDON and NELEE...). I really want my kids to stay connnected to their aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents even though we live so far away. So I want to tell them bedtime stories about their relatives. Now all I really want is a simple story. Doesn't have to be monumental or especially inspiring.
For instance, Mom told the kids a story her first night here about when she was a little girl practicing her violin alone at home and she heard somebody in the house. She ran to the neighbors and they had the police come and she was so scared. It turned out to be the two-year-old neighbor who had come in without anyone noticing!
Or I've told them that story about when Dad was a little boy "thumbing" on the road and that guy in his ward picked him up and gave him a talking to about "thumbing." Dad, send more details on this one! And I remember another one about throwing a newspaper into someone's window and another one about Grandma knowing when you were fibbing about having something in your pocket you weren't supposed to.
Oh, I've also told them the story about when Mark and I got in trouble because we were playing with scissors and I talked Mark into cutting his hair with the scissors. Remember that, Marky? How do you remember the story?
They especially like stories about when we were their age. But I would love spiritual stories too about how you learned a gospel principle was true or something you learned from another family member. Or a funny story about another sibling or parent. And I know no good stories that I can remember about Rachel, Cherie, and Jeremy. We weren't around for their childhoods, so fill us in!
The first one to blog a story gets free room and board when they come to India!! As an added bonus, my kids might actually know who you are when you come. Who's coming next? It's like heaven having Mom here. You've got to see it to believe it. But in the meantime...if you can't send yourself, send a story!
We love you!
